town of the sirte is surrounded as heavy fighting continues with his supporters. piper has the latest from tripoli on the tense situation. david, what can you tell us? >>reporter: yes. revaries are tightening their grip on only had town of sirte. they have captured the airports and military base there. they say gaddafi supporters are pushed to within three miles of the town center there. despite the encircledment. they have aloud civilians to leave the area and many have chose to leave with hundreds of cars cueed up to get out of the town. there one incident in which a family of four were killed as they tried to escape the town. a team from the group doctors without border tried to enter sirte and forced back because of

heavy fighting. negotiations with gaddafi loyalist to surrender collapse now the revolutionary commanders plan to push from the west and east and let those two sides come together in the middle of the town. they admit though there will be heavy fighting still ahead with gaddafi's forces still holding sophisticated weapons and large supplies of ammunition. the forces hold many high rise buildings there and deployed snipers. and this is another major gaddafi strong hold. there is not s much fighting there over the past week. there was offenses by the fighters to take the town and trying to get another drive to take that place. it is difficult and it could be waiting until sirte falls before they move major forces on. and also human rights watch

going on in the primaries from the states. do you think it will severely impact the process in terms was how the candidates will deal with this? >> what happens, if florida moves up it sets a domino affect. everyone is jockeying to move their date up because everyone want to play a role in the process. the florida moving up their date. new hampshire and iowa and nevada want to move up so now it looks like it is going to be stacked up in january and of course, this just sets the whole domino affect. >> florida did this under the threat of the losing delegates and they went ahead anyway and they want to be seen as a player in the race. >> they also have the republican convention in florida. i think the real impact is going to be on the candidates and it is going to fachor mitt romney who i said many a time ran again

and the republican party has a tradition habits of electing those who run at least twice. i think when you push up the states, it favors the candidate with the most money and best infrastructure in terms of a campaign and who's done it before herman cain, having now his polling in florida, it is to his disadvantage because he only has so much money and time to raise the money and get an operation going and florida is a big state. >> in the situation with new hampshire saying it might have the primary in the end of the year, that would be amazing if that happened. >> it forces the candidates and they have to get a ground game going and now have to do it much sooner and raise a lot of money. back to florida. one argument is that florida is the state in playy, they obviously have a number of

electorial votes and made the argument they have more than ohio. they feel because their state in play play with a large number of electoral votes ty would like to play a bigger role and the primary up. >> is it relevant in this situation? florida wants to be that player a the voters lose out. the process is squeezed tighter. >> you can have the primaries over and going in february and march and that may node bode well in testing the nominees. and we would like to see it going on as long as possible. but it looks like it is a shorter primary season and mitt romney will be the nominee. >> herman cain made a lot of news saying that the black community is in his eyes brainwashed by the democrats for voting along party lines that

this is certainly a first amendment issue although that is not the way the obama administration is treating it. the justice department went to court last week and said that the 52 videotapes and pictures taken on the raids that killed osama bin laden should remain classified. now using as evidence of why they should remain classified. they included a quote from 60 minutes of president obama answering the question about it we'll look at this quote. on 60 minutes on may eighth. obama said it is important to make sure that graphic photos of someone shot in the head are not floating around as an insightment to additional violence. as a propaganda tool. that's not who we are. we don't trot it out as trophis and don't need to spike the football. spiking the football is what

judicial watch wants. they say that the president's decision is a political one. the reasons, of course, the obama administration is giving. ewe see dead photos of bin laden. it is classified material and it would be a propaganda tool and every single argument you can think of. but the fact is, dozens of news organizations that filed request under the freedom of information act and asking that those pictures be made public and that the public has a right to know. and i would add we are grown up in this country even though we live in a nanny state. we are grown up to be able to absorb the pictures and see them for what they are. tighten up. but in any case. that's at a dead end and the
